Abstract

Clostridioides difficile infection has been increasing importance in recent years in the healthcare field due to a growing increase in its incidence. Furthermore, since the last decade we have new treatments, some already included in the 2021 guidelines, others are in the early stages of study. One of the most notable changes is the disappearance of metronidazole as a first-line on the first episode treatment and the appearance of fidaxomicin. A key point in the guidelines and protocols is the risk of recurrence. Taking into account these changes in recent years, we consider of interest a bibliographic review of the updates in the management of this infection, including the latest treatments in the early phases of study.
