Abstract
Lower back pain is a common reason for medical consultations, representing 5-10% of hospital emergency visits. Among possible etiologies, Pott's disease, or vertebral tuberculosis, stands out for its severity, requiring early diagnosis to prevent complications. We present the case of a 50-year-old patient with chronic lower back pain, whose study revealed vertebral lesions suggestive of metastatic neoplasia. However, a biopsy guided by CT confirmed the presence of vertebral tuberculosis. Treatment with antituberculous medications resulted in improvement, highlighting the importance of a differential diagnosis and prompt intervention in cases of Pott's disease.
